Have you noticed; one magic formula that industry leaders use for marketing is their own books? Not only does it add credibility and validate you and your business, but it’s also a clear indicator that you hold valuable knowledge in your industry, and this puts your business in a league of its own. It separates you from your competitors and distributes your knowledge and your reputation far and wide.

The fact you are reading this blog indicates that there is a part of you that believes you have a story to share, or insights and awareness’s and just need a platform to express this to a larger audience, and chances are you do and can make one. We all have a story and as humans we are all curious to connect and learn from each other’s story.
Never mind the passive income it creates for you ultimately; it also passively spreads the image that you are an expert in your field.

Whether you are a natural born writer or have never written before and plan to use a ghost writer, the journey is so rewarding. Allowing your internal world to be laid out in words will do more for you than anything else. Getting clear on what has led you to be who you are right here and now and being able to share those learnings and experiences on paper for the world to see is a very real and raw experience. It requires commitment and like any other aspect in life, it requires a village, a circle of people who will back and support you, whether that’s a partner allowing you space to think and write, a great editor, a writing coach and kids who will bring you food (one can dream)…it is an impressive accomplishment, and a life event that you will never regret.

My absolute best part of coaching is hearing everyone’s story, it is humbling and at the same time an experience that connects us, I’ve yet to talk with anyone whom I cannot relate to at some level…that leaves me feeling so connected which for me is the highest human experience. Everyone has a story inside of them! Sometimes, more than one story….

Battling to know where to start? Fear not, that’s normal. Here are some ideas and questions that might inspire you:

  • What are some questions you seem to get over and over and seem to always intrigue people, but for you is so obvious?
  • What would you ultimately like your message to be about?
  • Is there something about your industry that is so obvious, but most seem to miss?
  • Is there something about you or your business/industry you wish more people knew about?
  • Why do you think that this first (or next) book will help you establish credibility with others?
  • Is this story about the success that you have achieved in your business and/or personal life or a way to share your challenges you have overcome to inspire others?
  • Have you overcome major life challenges like sickness, an event, or a life-threatening situation and want to inspire people in similar circumstances?
  • Do you want to entertain and/or educate others with your professional and personal story?
  • What information/advice/services do you want to share in your book?
  • Do you want the reader to contact after reading your book for further services/advice/ information?

Being a publishes author will most definitely accelerate your business reputation and while it will add value to the world, it is no doubt a great marketing tool! Best advice is to commit, stick with it, and set a deadline to complete…otherwise it will be easily become a daydream instead of making it happen right now. There is no better time than the present, and if in time you have more to say…start on the next one!

Happy Writing
